Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Family Capsule handles information when adults use the app to preserve memories and coordinate family care.

Family Capsule

Privacy PolicyTerms of UseSupport & deletion

1. Who this policy covers

Family Capsule is a private family-memory and coordination service for parents, guardians, and other invited adults. It is not directed to children for independent use, and children should not create accounts or submit information directly.

Adults may add information about a child to a capsule. The adult who creates or contributes that information is responsible for having the authority to do so and for choosing appropriate family access.

2. Information we collect

Account and sign-in information

We may process your name, email address, verification status, sign-in provider, session information, and basic security information such as device, IP address, or user-agent data.

Family and child information

Adults may provide capsule names, child display names, family roles, invitations, time zones, and other profile details needed to organize a private family space.

Memories and care information

This may include stories, captions, dates, milestones, photos, video, audio, growth entries, little facts, family notes, medication schedules, and dose history that you choose to add.

App and device information

We may process notification preferences, push tokens, installation identifiers, local sync state, app version, platform, and diagnostic information needed to operate and protect the service.

Subscription information

If paid plans are available and you subscribe, the relevant app store or billing provider handles payment details. Family Capsule may receive product, transaction, renewal, and entitlement status without receiving your full payment-card number.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, sync, and secure your capsule, memories, care tools, and invited family access.
  • Authenticate adults, recover access, and prevent unauthorized use.
  • Store and deliver private media to authorized family members.
  • Send notifications and reminders according to your choices.
  • Provide exports, deletion workflows, receipts, and support.
  • Maintain reliability, diagnose problems, and comply with legal obligations.

Family Capsule does not use your family memories to create a public profile or follower feed.

4. When information is shared

Information is shared inside a capsule according to the role and visibility choices set by the capsule owner and contributors. Owners, parents, and viewers have different permissions.

We also use service providers for functions such as hosting, database storage, private media delivery, authentication, notifications, email, and—when available—subscription processing. They may process information only to provide those services and are expected to protect it consistently with this policy.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect safety or rights, or as part of a corporate transaction with appropriate notice and safeguards. We do not sell family memories.

5. Storage and security

Family Capsule uses access controls, scoped authorization, short-lived media access, server-side verification, and other administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect family information. No service can promise perfect security, so please protect your device and account credentials and invite only people you trust.

Information may be processed in countries where Family Capsule or its service providers operate. Applicable protections continue to apply when information is processed across borders.

6. Retention, export, and deletion

We keep information while your account or capsule is active and as reasonably needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, maintain security records, or meet legal obligations.

Verified owners can create a structured export from Settings → Data & ownership. The current structured export includes records and a media manifest; it does not bundle the original photo, video, or audio files.

Owners can archive or delete child profiles and capsules, and signed-in adults can initiate account deletion in the app. Deletion removes or schedules removal of owned content and private media, subject to limited retention required for security, legal, or operational records. See the Support page for exact steps.

7. Your choices

  • Review capsule privacy, member roles, and visibility in app settings.
  • Change notification and recap choices.
  • Revoke invitations or remove members if you have the required owner permissions.
  • Export structured family data or request deletion through the in-app controls.
  • Use device settings to control notifications, photos, camera, and microphone permissions.

8. Children’s privacy

Family Capsule is intended for adults. We do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts. If you believe a child has directly provided personal information without appropriate adult involvement, use the support path below so the issue can be reviewed and the information removed where required.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service changes. A new effective date will appear at the top, and material changes may also be communicated in the app.

For privacy questions, app feedback, or deletion help, visit the Support & data deletion page or email support@familycapsuleapp.com.

Policy effective August 6, 2026.

This public policy should be reviewed alongside the final App Store privacy disclosures before general release.
